Don Aamodt - Strawberry Lake Cabin Owner Info

Year Purchased: 1997

About the owner: As a farm boy raised on an apple orchard in Stillwater, MN, I grew up loving the outdoors. With my father and grandfather, I spent my childhood hunting, fishing and camping the woods “Up North.”

Though my wife (who grew up in Sonoma, CA wine country) and I now live in the Central Valley farming region of California, our love for the woods and waters of Minnesota ensures that we make time for yearly visits to Strawberry Lake Cabin.

With its tucked-into-the-trees setting next to sparkling, spring-fed Strawberry Lake, we’ve found no better place in the world for recharging together. And we think you’ll agree!

Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions about the cabin and the surrounding area of Detroit Lakes—we’re happy to help!

Sincerely, Don and Cheryl Aamodt

Why the Owner Chose Detroit Lakes Area:
When I came to see the lot on Strawberry Lake, I was hooked. This lakefront property—though overgrown and in need of TLC—captured everything I loved about my youth in Minnesota: a thick cover of trees to mark the passing of the seasons and to keep the cabin secluded, a sandy lakefront for launching canoes, and acres of crystal-clear water. The cabin itself is a new construction—built in 2013—and provides lots of amenities we didn't have back in my days of camping in the MN woods, including a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a downy bed for restful nights, and radiant heated floors throughout.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Too many to name! Mostly, we love its secluded feeling in the dense trees, the big front deck facing the water, the private boat dock, and the lofted bedroom that feels like a treehouse—a place where you can escape the rest of the world for a while.
