Great Place to Unwind

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at Strawberry Lake Cabin. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, even including washer/dryer, interesting decor, and good places to sit outside (deck, screened porch, picnic table, bonfire area). Quiet environment on the shore of a lake among beautiful deciduous trees. Canoe and life vests were provided. Can't wait to return again someday.

Fluffy Snowfall Every Day

We had a great stay, once again. Snow all three days, but was very pretty and not too much of a nuisance for travel. We ice fished Saturday afternoon, and ended up catching several northern pike. No walleye, but maybe next year. The big news is I proposed to my girlfriend on the ice as the snow came down softly. It was an event to remember! Strawberry lake was a nice haven for us at a tough time with Covid-19, and it remains special to us a year later. Thanks for being a good host, we hope to come again year after year.

Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer

Thank you again for letting us stay at your place! It was a much needed vacation. We took the canoe out on Friday after dinner. Went “right” from your dock and into the back cove. Lots of lily pads and we saw mom/dad swans with their babies. As we headed back we saw a beautiful sunset. We tried to take our paddle boards out on Sat but it was too windy. We also drove to Itasca State Park and hiked a few trails there. Wish we could have stayed longer. Next time. ☺️

Fantastic Stay!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! We had a fantastic stay. The skiing at Maplelag was absolutely perfect, and a few of us snowshoed out on the lake as well. The coffee cake that Les brought was delicious and a nice surprise! We would definitely be interested in coming back in the warmer months!

This review will not be like one you have read before. Almost a month has passed since our stay at the strawberry lake cabin. A significant reason for the delay writing this review is the importance I feel to convey the best possible picture of what your experience will be like. If you are seeking a tranquil, isolated, beautiful setting, this is your spot. If you desire a clean, uncluttered, meticulously decorated & cozy space, this is your spot. If you desire large windows to view breathtaking glimpses of the Lord's creation, this is your spot. If you desire all of these things you have found your destination! But wait, there is more! While all of these things are fabulous, these things pale to the comparison of what you will experience from the heartfelt, sincere, personal touch you receive from the owners Don & Cheryl as well as the caretakers & master craftsman Les & his incredible wife Gayle. In the end, what matters are memories. The memories and the personal touch received were priceless and as close to a Hallmark movie I can express. Beautiful Cabin!

Beautiful house and we did find the fish! We didn't use the canoe; nobody felt that energetic haha. We used the boat and motor and went out fishing 2-3 times every day. We really enjoyed the place. On the last day I saw a hummingbird! Thanks for sharing the beautiful house!

Boat & Motor Rental too!

My husband and I loved our stay at Don’s place on Strawberry Lake!! We visited during early fall, late September, and the drive from the twin cities was beautiful since the trees have just begun to change. The location is down a dirt road and the home is between two other lake homes, but at a good distance. The trees surrounding the home in front of the lake builds some privacy and still provides a beautiful view of the lake. The homes cleanliness was on point. Clear instructions were provided about the home and other amenities. The high ceilings and beautiful tall windows were as beautiful in person as in photos. The beds, comforters and pillows were all incredibly comfortable! The appliances were all neat and the cupboards and drawers were all stocked with cooking tools, spices and seasonings we needed to make some home cooked meals. We also rented out the fishing boat in which we didn’t get to utilize as much as we had wished to due to weather, but being out on the lake was beautiful and peaceful. The place was a beautiful stay but I will have to say the price was a bit steep for the amount of space provided. (Airbnb)

Honeymoon Stay!

We had a great time at Strawberry Lake Cabin! We came the day after our wedding and it was the perfect private, cozy getaway. Don was great to work with and was very flexible and understanding with my limited communication around the wedding. Les and Gayle live nearby and were flexible to meet with us for check-in, and even brought over a fresh coffee cake warm from the oven for breakfast. The cabin is beautiful and we enjoyed canoeing and fishing off the dock, and the surrounding area is beautiful with colorful fall trees. Anniversary Stay!

We went to the cabin to enjoy our anniversary with our 7 month twins. The cabin and property was absolutely amazing. Les greeted us and offered a lot of helpful advice on the area and showed us the amenities the cabin and property had to offer. We had the most amazing time from waking up in the loft and enjoying watching the sunrise, coffee on the deck, to hiking, canoeing, grilling, enjoying a bonfire underneath the starlit sky. Amazing Lake Cabin

The most amazing lake cabin experience you could ask for is at the Strawberry Lake Cabin. The cabin is very clean and fully stocked with absolutely anything you could need. Master bed is super cozy & room darkening shades are a big plus. The property is beautiful with a breathtaking view of the lake through the trees. Great campfire area, patio and screened in porch is perfect for cool nights. We will definitely be making another trip next year!

Beautiful Lake Home That Is Exactly Like the Photos

Beautiful lake home that is exactly like the photos This stay went way above my expectations. The owner Don was very nice and easy to talk to. When I told him that I was renting the cabin to spend time with my family for a late Christmas gathering, he offered to have a tree set up. Don was also helpful with providing information on area attractions. I am originally from the area, so I was aware of this information but for someone new to the area it would very helpful. Les and Gail are the caretakers of the property and were extremely kind. Due to weather conditions I did not come until Saturday morning, my sister did arrive on Friday but had some issues with her vehicle. Les was very accommodating with the check in. When I made it to the cabin I was surprised to see that the tree was larger than I expected and was fully decorated. Gail came over with more towels and brought over a fresh baked coffee cake. I was really surprised by this. I grew up in the area and know that the people are really nice, I just never had this type of experience when renting a cabin before. I also want to comment on the fact that there is a lot of dishes and spices available. My sister was making a spiced cider and forgot to bring ginger. There was ginger in the cupboards! Most places maybe have salt and pepper. I have to say that this is the first family Christmas since our parents died that really felt like a Christmas; I really have Don, Les and Gail to thank for it. The cabin was beautiful and felt like a home. The extra touches with the decorated tree and the coffee cake really brought in the Christmas cheer. I would definitely rent this cabin again as it is beautiful and the owner and caretakers are lovely people. I can only imagine how much lovelier it is in the summer and fall. (Vrbo)

Peaceful Get-a-way

I would go back here every weekend if I could. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway and need a break from your busy life, this is the place to go. It was the perfect size for just the two of us. The cabin was spotless. It had a great view of the lake. You're not right on top of the neighbor. We didn't even see the neighbors. The movie collection was perfect. We just relaxed and watched movies all weekend. The kitchen has every utensil and gadget you would need. Plenty of towels, blankets, dishes, etc. Having the option to do our own laundry was great, too. Les, the caretaker, met us the first evening we were there and gave us the scoop on the cabin and let us know of some good places to eat nearby and things to do and where to go to get groceries. It was nice having him a phone call or text away if we needed anything. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a quiet getaway... and it was only an hour from home so it was perfect! Perfectly Designed for Two People

Two couples stayed here in the dead of winter so that we could participate in a curling tournament nearby. It was -15 degrees F on the morning of the tournament, but the cabin was warm and comfy. Amazing Cabin and Amazing Hosts

Overall, our experience at the Strawberry cabin was great. The communication, the location, and the modern nature of the cabin all led to a great Memorial Day weekend. Amazing Girls Weekend

It was an amazing trip - and your cabin certainly created the perfect ambiance for our girls weekend. What we loved: -Well set up kitchen (hello, garlic press!) - bring your gourmet meals and get ready to cook! -clean cabin with everything ready to use -quiet lakefront, neighbours present, but VERY quiet!!! -we saw an eagle!!! We heard an owl! Amazing to be so close to/in nature -Wonderful up-to-date information in the binder of the surrounding area. -Wi-fi access a must (and was appreciated) because cellular is not an option on the lake We didn't use the canoe. It was rainy on Saturday, we stayed inside mostly, and then went to the winery. BUT, it would have been easy and fun to do! Maybe next time?

Fall Getaway

My husband and I had a great stay at the cabin, which lived up to our expectations in every way! From the beautiful decor to the well-supplied kitchen, it felt like home. With a gorgeous view! Although the weather was cool, we enjoyed hiking on nearby trails and got out in the canoe a few times on Saturday to paddle through water, as still as glass. The fire pit and CDs provided entertainment for us each night, as well as the owls and whatever was splashing around in the water. We even saw a few shooting stars! Thank you for supplying such a relaxing and comfortable space. We hope to return someday.

Spring Season Vacation

It was a lovely time -- including major dragonfly and mayfly hatches! Very peaceful and comfortable. Enjoyed your DVD collection most every evening. Caught up with many of my classmates that are still in the area, as well as family. A delightful two weeks. We'll definitely be back.

October Getaway

It was a great visit. We brought the two kids along, went canoeing twice, built a fire in the pit, grilled dinner, daughter made leaf piles, and had a nice overall time. We'd like to come again one day or maybe build one of our own. We have the cabin fever now.

August Vacation

Our stay was fantastic. We loved the cabin, lake, and area. It was a really relaxing stay and we would love to come back next year. The weather was mostly ideal. We had some rain Saturday night into Sunday am. Then it was cooler, but warmed up by Tuesday. We took the canoe out on the lake twice and did some fishing in various places, but did not catch much. We were sitting on the dock one day and a bullhead catfish came swimming around. I have never heard so many loon calls and it was really great for us to just listen to them out there. We saw some on the lake while out canoeing, but they were shy.

Perfect Lake Retreat

June stay at Strawberry Lake Cabin

My husband, adult daughter and I enjoyed our stay at your lovely, open and airy yet cozy cabin. Everything we needed was there, including charcoal for the grill and fully stocked kitchen. We enjoyed eating out on the deck and we were able to take the canoe out to explore the lake a couple of times when the weather permitted. The beds were comfortable and your wide collection of movies was appreciated on a rainy afternoon. You have a very lovely lake place and grounds and I thank you for sharing it with us.

Strawberry Lake Cabin in the Spring

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! I wish the weather would have been better, but we made the best of it! We appreciated all of the movies, especially since we were inside more than we would have liked. The cabin was very clean and inviting. My husband and son even braved the wind and waves and took the canoe out. They came back a bit wet, but with smiles on their faces! I would love to bring back some ladies to the cabin in the future. I have a group of women from across the US who are my "Safari Sisters." We are always looking for a little reunion. We met hunting in Africa, so I guess you could say we like adventure! I will definitely keep Strawberry Lake Cabin in mind.

Perfect Mini-Getaway with our Baby Girl

If I could rate this Cabin a 10 I would, because we enjoyed every second spent at this Cabin which was super cozy with spectacular and breathtaking views, especially from the loft area where we slept with our baby girl. On our stay we would wake up in the morning and make coffee, then we would watch a cartoon that was actually provided by the owner along with two large baskets of Movies. We would relax and cuddle all day drinking teas also provided by the owners and doing absolutely nothing but watch movies. Take me back now!!...this is truly a Gem that I am so glad I came across and decided to rent and we for sure will be back again with our baby girl during the summer time. I would also like to Thank Don for providing everything necessary for our stay with our baby like the highchair and crib and also for making the renting process so easy for us. Thanks to Les for leaving the door open for us once we arrived and trusting us before even meeting us with the Cabin and leaving it cozy and warm, and Les's Wife Gayle for that finger licking oh so yummy coffee cake that we finished on our drive back home =) we want more!! Thank you and thank you for everything!

What a Great Mini-Vacation at Strawberry Lake!

We just loved spending 4 days at Strawberry Lake Cabin near Detroit Lakes! It was private, beautiful and very comfortable! The cabin is new and had all the amenities of home! We were very impressed with all of the communication from the owner of the cabin, and the hospitality of the caretakers who actually brought us a freshly baked coffee cake to make us feel welcome! We will definitely be coming back for future vacations!

Highlight of the Vacation was RELAXING at Strawberry Lake Cabin

Everything about this cabin was perfect for our Anniversary retreat to MN.. it was all the little details that made it so special (the art, the cross stitch, the throw quilts, the books, etc.). The yard is as beautifully landscaped as the pictures show. The view of the lake from the loft is amazing. We grilled each night and ate on the deck watching fisherman (and even a knee boarder). We spent lots of time after dark on the screened porch listening to the sounds (which included no disturbances from the neighbors). We found all flavors of hot tea to enjoy. There was charcoal for the grill. All the things we would have forgotten to buy were provided. We spent rainy days listening to CD's with the french doors opened watching the rain. And, comfy nights curled up watching movies. We travel to a different state each year on our anniversary to take in the natural beauty of the state and just relax with no disturbances. This cabin - with the perfect setting, perfect view, and the provisions that left us with no worries, made MN one of our highest ranking trips yet. We appreciate everything the owners have done and the property manager sees to that it is a wonderful retreat!!! Next trip we will stay to fish or deer hunt :)

The most peaceful, relaxing vacation with plenty of nature and solitude!

I stayed here with my fiance to have a relaxing, quiet weekend cabin vacation. I could not have asked for a more enjoyable stay. The cabin was beautiful, well insulated, quiet, and surrounded by trees. I couldn't believe how many stars you could see in the sky. The backyard has a bonfire pit so we roasted marshmellows and made smores. We also went canoeing out on the lake, and saw many different bird species. We did not want to come home! The nature up there is not to miss out on. I am already looking forward to when we can go back. I would highly recommend this rental cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation!
